A powerful blend of utilitarian history and domestic craft, this one-of-one reworked trench is as symbolic as it is stylish. The base is a structured navy military coat from the early to mid-1900s, complete with hidden buttons and a stamped interior bearing the name “Whachter MA.”
What makes this piece singular is the 1950s mandil (Mexican apron) hand-appliquéd across the front. Originally designed for traditional homemaking, the apron now becomes a bold visual statement—reclaimed, raw-edged, and stitched with delicate floral embroidery and basket motifs. The contrast between the stern military silhouette and the soft, nostalgic textiles creates an arresting, almost sculptural garment.
