The Story
A playful reinvention of a utilitarian classic. This Norse Net mesh tee has been reimagined under the in-house label IAMWHATIAM, our brand for upcycled fashion. Originally produced by the legendary American workwear brand Duofold in the 1960s/70s as a high-performance thermal base layer, we’ve softened the masculine edge to create a one-of-a-kind whimsical piece.
The shirt features the signature Norse-Net open-weave cotton mesh—highly breathable and incredibly soft (unlike modern synthetic fishnet). We’ve customized it with a large, embroidered giraffe patch and a tiny "super duper cute" bear button, adding a touch of narrative charm to the architectural grid of the fabric.
Style & Fit
Because this was originally a "string shirt" base layer, it is designed to fit close to the body and has significant mechanical stretch. While the flat measurements look tiny, the mesh expands. Styled best as a layering piece over a colorful bralette or tank to let the texture (and the giraffe!) pop.
